The outside of the home is just as impressive as the inside; here is a note from the current owner describing the wonderful lifestyle of this property.
“The lower property is really like having your own private sanctuary; a house-on-the-lake up North, without the drive! We have bonfires & s’mores all summer long and enjoy hanging out on the 200 feet of lakeshore & beach listening to the waves lap up on shore. The area is surrounded & protected by cliffs on three sides in a bowl configuration so you’re in your own world. Buffalo Lake is a full recreational lake; we water ski, wake board & tube, but it’s not very crowded. The majority of boaters are out to fish- no high traffic or noisy PWC’s out there, even at the height of summer. It’s a great ice fishing lake as well; known for its black crappy. We can sit out on the dock and watch & listen to the turtles, ducks, pelicans, geese and loons or watch the resident pair of bald eagles teaching their juveniles how to fish. It’s very private, peaceful and absolutely beautiful. Every day the lake changes color & complexion so no two days are the same; one day clear & calm like sheet of glass, the next day the wind blows in and you get angry white caps, truly fascinating! Living on a lake is something special you really can’t explain, you and your family have to experience it over the four seasons to understand the beauty & tranquility.
We take the boat out during Buffalo Days every June and observe the fireworks display on the water with the best seats in the house! It’s great to come home from work and quickly be on the lake for dinner, backgammon and a beautiful sunset, and just as fast utilize the boat lift and tram to be in the house within minutes.
The community of Buffalo is wonderful, and the schools are top notch; it’s one of the reasons we chose the Buffalo area. All three of our children attended High School here. Our two daughters are now in College and our son graduates next June and also plans to attend College. You get a small town, rural- feel with all the comforts & amenities of a larger city, still within the Twin Cities Metro area. We love to visit the Twin Cities for: sporting events, concerts, museums and dining, but it’s great to come back to that quite, secluded lake-front lifestyle. The Westcliffe community is a nice area on the West-side of Buffalo Lake. There is a private boat launch and recreational area to utilize for Westcliffe community members only and there are several younger families moving into the neighborhood as well. Folks can walk, bike and exercise their pets without worrying about traffic!
Our family loves this home & its’ wonderful lake surroundings and will cherish the fond memories we’ve experienced here, but it’s time to move on. Our children are grown and next year all three will be in College and the house is just too large for two individuals. We hope a the next owners will enjoy “lake living at its best”, the way our family has.”
